Fitness Requirements & Preparation

Climbing Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route is a real challenge due to altitude, rate of ascent, and varying temperatures. During an average climbing day, you'll walk 6-7 hours. With proper preparation and the right mindset, reaching the summit is absolutely achievable for healthy, fit individuals - and the Lemosho Route gives you the highest success rate!

Take Your Time

Don't hike too fast - allow your body time to adapt and acclimatize. "Pole pole" (slowly slowly) is the key to success, especially on this route with excellent acclimatization profile.

Physical Preparation

Start training months before your climb. Multi-day hikes are excellent preparation, along with running and aerobic exercise to build the endurance needed for 6-7 hour climbing days.

Add an Extra Day

Consider adding an extra acclimatization day to reduce altitude sickness risk. Since you spread the climb over more days, your body gets more time to adjust to higher altitude.

Health Monitoring

Our guides check your health twice daily and monitor for altitude sickness symptoms. Professional medical support and evacuation available when needed.

Proper Nutrition

Our cook provides delicious, nutritious meals essential for maintaining energy during the strenuous climb. Proper nutrition is crucial for summit success - menu available on request.

Responsible Climbing

We're partners with KRTO (Kilimanjaro Responsible Travel Organisation), ensuring proper care for our crew and environmental conservation during your climb with a clear conscience.
